Diet tips that we hope will enhance your lifestyle, and hopefully, your swimming too.

General Nutrition Tips

Eat plenty of carbohydrates such as potatoes (not chips). Wholemeal bread is a very good source of carbohydrate and fibre.

Drink plenty of fluids (not fizzy drinks).

Eat plenty of fruit (all kinds of fruit are good for you).

Cereals such as Bran flakes and Weetabix (not sugar coated) are full of vitamins, carbohydrate and fibre.
Before Swimming

Don't eat a large meal directly before training. You'll only feel sick whilst training.
During Swimming

Always remember to bring your drinks bottle. It is important to keep body fluid levels stable. Dehydration can affect performance levels.

Don't make juice too concentrated. When you are very thirsty in the pool it will taste too sweet and not seem refreshing.
After Swimming

Within half an hour after training, have something light to eat like a banana or some digestive biscuits.
Avoid eating too much of the following foods

Chips
Chocolate and sweets
Sugary cereals
